I am a bit late with this month’s haul post. That's because ~~I am LAZY as~~ I just can’t seem to get out of my “holiday” mode. It’s only been 10 days into this year and I have already procrastinated enough work for a month. Don’t ask me how, just don’t. So 2014… let’s just try to co-exist peacefully without trying to kill each other, shall we?

Fashion is all about getting in the mood of the season and trying things that are either on the block or simply too weird. If you are a keen fashion follower, you must have seen how peplum has emerged as a huge trend for now. What many don’t know is the fact that peplum belonged to the 1940s, and after four decades, the style was spotted in 1980s. In the current fashion world, Peplum became a rage since 2010, and here are the tricks that you must know to wear the style with ease.

Know your body
The ruffles, which are the main highlight of the peplum trend, come with the disadvantage of making you look on the plus side. Needless to mention, women with heavy middle area have to be more careful. If you are struggling with tummy fat or hip size, make sure that you look for peplum on the shorter side. Another trick to know is to use a single colour as block shades often add a factor of length to the appeal. On the other hand, lean and thin ladies have nothing to worry about because this style is meant to flatter their body like no other!

Reduce the tummy area
It often seems otherwise because peplum is supposed to add breadth to the mid area, but there’s always a fashion trick that works. The best idea is to choose a peplum dress or top where the ruffles start from a point above the waistline. This would not only cover for the mid area and tummy fat, if any, but at the same time, also makes you look stylish in a feminine way.

Look for dresses with modernized ruffle
The new style of ruffle is not the one that makes you look like a mini doll wearing a short skirt, but it’s more on the softer and slimmer side. If you are looking for peplum looks for the office, try to streamline the look with lighter and softer fabrics with minimal ruffles. Dresses are equally good for the casual days, the peplum style looks better in single or dual colours any day!

Slim down the legs
Since the middle portion would be highlighted more, you don’t want the legs to look in the same way. The best idea is to choose a pencil skirt or a slim fit pair of trousers that can be paired with a peplum top. Always keep in mind that style is more about the ruffles, and that doesn’t need to be extreme in any manner. Even with limited ruffles and a well-fitted pair of trousers, you can look stunning!

Look for heels at best
Heels always add the height factor, and here the heels refer to just the pencil and kitten heels that seem to be more flattering. For women on the plus side and those dealing with a heavy body, the peplum style can look much better when the heels are on. Wedges are good, but there’s a lack of charm like you get in those marble crackling stilettos. When you are looking for shoes online, only look for high designs!

What I didn't like:

These cleansers are meant for everyday use and thus their exfoliation is not enough to counter blackheads.

Rating: 4/5Though it is a great idea to have made these face-washes for day and night time use separately, I think I am going to use Cell Renew Pollution Protect cleansing cream face wash in winters & Cell Renew Energizing face cleanser in summers.

Repurchase:Yes. I wouldn't mind.

Recommendation: Yes!!

I stepped out of the Bandra amphitheatre, feeling happy and fuzzy. It was overwhelming to meet so many Youtubers, some of whom I had been following for years! And as I always do at the end of a long tiring day, I changed into chappals. I kept my beautiful blue booties that I had been trotting around in all day long, inside a small carry bag and walked with my friends towards Bandstand to have chai, another ritual I follow at the end of a long tiring day.

There was something sinister about the breeze in Bandra last night, which at that time I was too preoccupied to notice. I kept down the bag I had my shoes (which were beautiful and blue) in as I picked up my cup of tea. Soon me and my friends were lost in sharing the days happenings and bouts of laughter. It was not until Magali asked about the bag that we noticed, that it was nowhere to be seen.

I had thought about making a vlog about the fest, but all the footage I have shot has horrible frames and is terribly shaky. Whoever thought making vlogs was easy, well it isn't. Still, let me know if you would like to know more about the fest. Who are your favorite Youtubers?

Maybelline Says: Fall under the spell of the elixir effect. Hyper-saturated color, ultra cushiony feel. The new hypnotic lip sensation. Available in 16 hyper-saturated shades.

Variant I’m reviewing: Pop 6

The Maybelline Lip Polish gives a smooth, soft feel to the lips and the shade "Pop 6" gives a rich red color as red as a ripening fruit.
No wonder I quickly got attracted to this product as I glanced it for the first time. This new hypnotic lip sensation is a impressive combination of "color of a lipstick, care of a balm and liquid shine of gloss."

The texture of the Maybelline lip polish is medium thick and applies evenly on the lips. The staying power of this lip polish is average, up to 2 hours and after that it fades away slowly, leaving a nice reddish stain. I feel if your lips are dry or cracked, this alone wouldn't be enough to provide enough hydration. So the days my lips are feeling a bit dry, I use a lip balm before applying this.

The specially designed leaf-shaped applicator accompanying the lip color, which has been made in order to facilitate easy and quick glide did not work that well for me. In fact, on first look I assumed it was a defected piece, but later on discovered that it has been specially designed this way.

The product comes attractively packed in a transparent container and looks like a hybrid between a Lipstick and a Lip gloss. This is easily available in all cosmetic stores.

What I don't like:

Lasting power is just average.
I do think this is a bit sticky.

What I like:

Gives bold color with rich shine just in a single stroke, which can be built-up more if needed.
I like it's mild scent and slight sweet taste.
It is a Lipstick + Lip Gloss + Balm. I mean come on, that has to be a reason enough to buy this.

Rate: 4.5/5

Recommendation: I do like this lip lacquer a lot! Maybelline has been one of my favorite cosmetic brands & I love its quality and reasonable price range. The Color Sensational Lip Polish has some pretty exciting shades that I would love to add to my stack. You can check out all the shades available in India here.

There’s nothing like a fresh coat of nail polish to help you complete your look. Even better, being able to flaunt those beautiful nails for 2-3 weeks. Gel Nails are best recommended to Working Professionals who have to be groomed all the time. It is a time saving service and sounds like a dream, but is it safe for your nails? There are a lot of myths about gel nails that range from silly to outrageous.

Experts from Lakmé Salon share some interesting facts about Gel nails.

Gel manicures are a relatively new trend. A special type of gel polish is applied to the nails and then cured under a UV or LED light. This hardens the polish into a glossy coat that's super durable and resists chipping. Unlike acrylics, you don't have to drill or file down your natural nails. Gel nails are also odorless and don't require the same harsh chemicals to apply. So you end up with a manicure that stays chip-free and shiny for up to four weeks. And best of all, they dry instantly! The emission spectrum in lamps used for drying the gel, differs from the lamps in the tanning bed. Hence unlike what most people think, it most certainly does not cause skin cancer.

Human anatomy, states that nails cannot “breathe” in principle. There is no oxygen in the nail plate, and it does not need it. Nails, teeth, hair are all dead fabric, within which there are very thin channels to produce oil or moisture. That’s why our nails shine and do not break. If there was air at the top of the plate, not even super materials would stick to it.

Don’ts

-Don’t expose your nails to harsh chemicals, petroleum products, abrasives or household cleansers to avoid crumbling of gel nails.-Don’t glue broken or lifted extension nails. Glue isn’t watertight.

-Don’t bite or cut your nail extensions as it can shatter damaging your natural nail plate.
- Don’t use your nail extensions to open cans, or anything else that puts them at risk of breaking.

-Don’t use acetone or regular nail polish remover.
- Don’t gouge dirt from under your nails with pins, needles, metal nail files or any other sharp object. You may cause infection under nail.

Do’s

-RESPECT your skin, nails & health. Wear rubber gloves for all cleaning, scouring, sanding, painting etc.

-FILE ONLY. Preferably, get your nail technician to do this.

- When damaged, get your nails REPAIREDby your nail technician as soon as you can.

- Remember, your nail extensions are JEWELS not TOOLS. While nail extensions is tough, it is not indestructible!- Soak fingers in warm water & mild soap 5-10 minutes to soften dirt, then scrub gently underneath nail with a nail brush or soft toothbrush.

- Use ACETONE FREE nail polish remover ONLY!
